Currently in the United Kingdom thousands of Home Owners are saving money through savings in their Home Energy Bills.
The Government has instructed Energy suppliers to offer Home Insulation Grants towards the cost of insulating your Home.
Everyone who owns their own home or rents it from a private landlord is eligible for a substantial Home Insulation grant towards the cost of insulating their home.
It is not necessary to change fuel suppliers in order to qualify; the insulation grants are not means tested and they do not have to be repaid. Government figures show that up to half of your heat escapes through un-insulated walls and lofts.
Essex Insulation promotes the wide range of Home Energy Efficiency and Home Insulation grants currently available in the UK. These grants are intended to help eradicate fuel poverty, cut carbon emission and reduce fuel bills.
We work along side national Energy Providers, Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Contractors. Our aim is to identify and inform those households that are eligible for a home insulation grant to subsidise the cost of home insulation.
Government Backing
The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) recently issued this statement:
"By properly insulating homes, people can save money on fuel bills, protect the warmth of their home and cut carbon emissions. It’s estimated the most energy inefficient homes in the UK could save, on average, around £550 per year by installing insulation measures.”
Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne demanded that energy suppliers work harder to insulate lofts and walls ensuring that consumers, especially low income vulnerable households, receive measures which can offer significant energy bill savings."
Why Insulate your Home?
Current Government Building Regulations ensure that all new houses are very well insulated when they are built. Prior to 1982, houses were built to much lower standards for cavity wall insulation and loft insulation and are consequently more expensive to heat.
Correct cavity wall insulation and professional loft insulation creates large savings in heating bills and produces increased levels of comfort in your home ‚ keeping your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
An average 3 bedroom semi-detached property loses heat, and therefore money, if no cavity wall insulation and/or adequate loft insulation is installed. The annual savings are considerably higher if the property is electrically heated. Potential savings for a gas-heated property are:
Annual Saving per Year: About £115.00
Installed Cost: From £189.00
CO2 Saved per year: Around 610kg
Loft Insulation 0-270mm:
Annual Saving per Year: About £150.00
Installed Cost: From £189.00
CO2 Saved per year: Around 800kg
Loft Insulation 50-270mm:
Annual Saving per Year: About £50.00
Installed Cost: From £189.00
CO2 Saved per year: Around 230kg -
External Wall Insulation:
Annual Saving per Year: About £385.00 -£500.00
Installed Cost: From £70-110 per square metre
CO2 Saved per year: Around 1900kg
